For its first collaboration with Caroline Andréoni La Maison, the Datcha studio has imagined and designed a range of decorative ceramic objects including a vase, a fruit bowl on a foot and a cache-pot. The rounded silhouettes of the objects are adorned with handles forming volutes and arabesques evoking Art Nouveau and the leader of Catalan Modernism, the architect Antoni Gaudi.

These glazed earthenware objects are entirely hand-made by a Moroccan artisan potter working in the Atlas Mountains. Guardian of a centuries-old tradition, he took over the family workshop and perpetuates a precious know-how. The objects are turned one by one by hand using the mixed earth technique. This involves mixing white and red clays to create random marbled or striped patterns in natural terracotta shades. Each of these objects is thus totally unique. They bear witness to gestures passed down from generation to generation and to the time spent making each of these potteries. In addition to their utilitarian function, the two designers wanted to give these pieces a resolutely decorative and sculptural side, so that each of them is sufficient in itself.
